I love nurses.

It's been quite some time since I've lived with any nurses, however, as of Monday many old memories have come rushing back thanks to my two latest visitors. Katie Baines, my room mate in first year of university, my Georgain bay neighbour, and one of my best friends, decided to make an impromptu Spanish holiday with her friend Mary Seatter (who is also currently doing her nursing masters at Queen's). They fit into the Spanish way of life almost too well, and we have been having a fabulous time to say the least! :)

While I had to work Monday and Tuesday of this week, Wednesday was another national holiday. Tuesday night Katie and Mary made me dinner, we watched the Barcelona futbal team defeat a german team to get them through the first round of the european champions league (this is a big deal since they are the defending champions), and then went uptown to an IAESTE party. I think it would be safe to say that these Canadian nurses were loving the Spanish muchachos, of which there are always plenty at any of these get togethers.

After some roof top drinks and dancing we went out to a disco so that they could fully experience a typical catalan night out. (available upon request: embarrassing pictures of Katie) lol :) When I woke up Wednesday afternoon, under any other circumstance I would have been disappointed by the grey skys and the first rain since September,... but since it justified sleeping some more it was welcomed.

Wednesday evening we went out for some tapas and a walk around the old neighbourhoods (El Borne and Barri Gotic). I am slowly starting to feel the Christmas vibe in this city; the traditions are very different (some extremely strange, so I won't go into details), but the feeling is still very familiar, especially with the cooler weather that arrived with the rain.

This week has gone by much too quickly! I think tonight Peter, Bartec, and I will show these houseguests the Xampagneria after work, and introduce them to cava, the spanish sparkling wine. Katie and Mary leave for Granada/Ibiza tomorrow (Friday), as I leave for a weekend with the Parisians. Au revoir Barcelona! Salut Paris!

Until Tuesday ~ A bientot, Sarah.
